Homelessness Reduction Act receives Royal Assent
On the 27th April the Homelessness Reduction Bill formally became an Act of Parliament.
Sadly we suspect that due to financial cuts much of the apparent good intentions will fail due to inability to deliver. Right across the country hostels and shelters are closing due to funding cuts. This will inevitably increase homelessness not reduce it.
The Act places a new duty on local authorities to help prevent the homelessness of all families and single people, regardless of priority need, who are eligible for assistance and threatened with homelessness. Read more …..
