At the same time we run our night shelter, we also work in partnership with Resettlement Community, Care4Calais and Greyfriars Sanctuary to run a similar project for refugees.
This is for those who have been awarded “refugee status” in the UK, but are then evicted from their Government asylum seeker accommodation and end up homeless on the streets of Reading.
The situation of illegal migration has been in the news on a regular basis for many years. It is contentious and creates divided opinion. People come to the UK for a multitude of reasons. Some genuinely fleeing persecution because of their faith or war situations. Others simply looking for a better life.
We want to offer a safe place to support those in this situation as they try to rebuild their lives.
